'Haunted' Dresser for Sale in North Carolina: A spooky piece of home decor recently popped up at a second-hand shop in North Carolina: an allegedly haunted dresser. The odd item can be found at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in the city of Salisbury. On a Facebook post showcasing the dresser, the shop first noted that the ornate-looking piece was hand carved in the 1950s and is part of a two piece set which includes a canopy bed. However, it's the 'warning' that accompanies the furniture that caught the attention of prospective shoppers. Learn more. HauntedDresser Vaccine Opposition: Kent Heckenlively is a science teacher, an attorney, and a founding editor of Age of Autism. In the first half of Wednesday's program, he spoke about his opposition to the way vaccines are forced upon children. As Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has noted, the US government has admitted to never testing or measuring the safety of the childhood vaccine schedule as was mandated by a 1986 law, which took vaccine injuries out of the civil court system. "Until safety can be established as required by this law," Heckenlively stated, "we think that they need to call a pause in childhood vaccinations until we can assure their safety." It's not just the aluminum, mercury, and other additives in the vaccines, but re-combined animal viruses that may have unintended consequences, he warned. Get the full story here. On the night of March 13, 1997, a variety of craft were seen over a 12-hour period in Arizona and Nevada, including a large triangular shape (that in some cases seemed to black out the view of stars). People saw a massive object some "eight miles wide," she reported, "that was actually gliding over people's heads at rooftop level." Some said it was totally silent as it took off, and "other people saw these orbs detach from the main object, go out into the environment, and re-dock with it later." Read the full recap here. March 15, 2019 Coast Insider Audio Study Captures Wild Apes Reacting to Camera Traps: A fascinating study out of Africa saw scientists place camera traps in the jungle habitats of various great ape species and, in turn, captured some truly remarkable reactions from the creatures to the devices. The purpose of the project was reportedly to see how different apes responded to unfamiliar objects in their native environment. In total, 14 camera traps were placed in different locations and captured 43 instances in which either a chimpanzee, bonobo, or gorilla spotted the technological interloper in their midst. Check out an amazing video showing when the creatures encountered the cameras here. Ape Camera Trap Airplane Safety: David B. Soucie has traveled the world in the interest of improving airline safety. He's worked in the cockpit, on the hangar floor, and within the aviation boardroom. In the first half of Thursday's program, he discussed the latest developments in the Boeing 737 MAX crashes and groundings. The risk really began before the flights, he said, when the FAA and Boeing decided that the new model of 737s (which had different capabilities) would not need extensive retraining for pilots who had flown the older model. Specifically, pilots were not well versed in the new maneuvering characteristics of the updated 737s, he cited. In the Ethiopian crash (view a simulation), the pilots were trying to return to the airport shortly after taking off and the aircraft accelerated to abnormal speeds. Get the full story here. They Mystery of Time Slips: In the second half of Thursday's program, paranormal investigator Rosemary Ellen Guiley discussed time-slips and the mystery of missing time accounts. A time slip is a spontaneous experience, she explained, where suddenly the landscape changes, and people find themselves somewhere that eerily differs from ordinary reality. They may feel like they've entered or are trapped in a kind of bubble, she continued, and can encounter oddly dressed people or decades old places, as though they'd gone into a time warp. Sometimes people vanish when they're out hiking or driving, and perhaps they aren't able to return from these time slips, she hypothesized. Read the full summary here. Reacting to a new study about eating eggs, he said it's not the eggs that cause the plaque in the arteries in attacks, "it's what you cook the eggs in." He recommends simmering eggs at low heat using butter rather than oils, which oxidize and turn into trans fats. The consumption of such oils as well as statin drugs, he believes, is associated with Alzheimer's. Read the full recap here. Are You a Coast Insider? MoonLandingNLx Simulated Reality: A graduate of MIT and Stanford, Rizwan Virk is a successful entrepreneur, video game pioneer, and author. In the first half of Tuesday's show, he discussed the simulation hypothesis, a theory drawn from concepts of computer science, artificial intelligence, video games, quantum physics, and ancient Eastern spiritual texts, which suggests we may live inside a simulated world like what's depicted in The Matrix. It's one of the few models that relate to both scientific and spiritual understanding, he noted. We've seen the complexity significantly evolve from early computer games like Pong, to the 3D, virtual reality, and multi-player experiences of today. Using computer games as a template for simulated worlds, one could imagine, Virk points out, how on a far more advanced scale our realm could be part of a program. Get the full scoop here. Celestial Upheavals: One of America's top astronomy writers, Bob Berman, wrote the popular "Night Watchman" column for Discover for seventeen years. In the latter half of Wednesday's show, he addressed a wide array of powerful celestial events including solar storms, gamma-ray bursts, and other upheavals. Our moon actually provides stability for the Earth, he explained, and without one the planet would tilt more drastically over time, causing temperature extremes. There have been five mass extinctions over the eons on Earth, and some say we are in the midst of a sixth one, he cited. In the first extinction, 441 million years ago, around 86% of all life forms died. It's possible, he postulated, that we live in a double-star system, "and our companion comes close every 70 million years or so, and when it does, the gravity from it throws all these distant bodies that are out in the Oort cloud" hurling toward us.
