July 12, 2017 Coast Insider Audio 'Earhart' Photo Claims Fall Apart:
In a rather stunning turn of events, the much-heralded 'lost Amelia Earhart' photo which made headlines last week has been debunked in a devastating fashion. Hailed as a breakthrough clue to the fate of the famed pilot and her navigator, the image served as the centerpiece for a major two-hour documentary that aired on the History Channel over the weekend. However, suspicious about claims that Earhart had been captured by Japanese forces, a blogger in Tokyo launched his own investigation into the photo and found that the claims surrounding it quickly fell apart within minutes. Cults & Incredible Feats:
Investigative journalist and anthropologist Scott Carney has worked in some of the most dangerous and unlikely corners of the world. In the the first half of Tuesday's show , he talked about his explorations into cult psychology, and human organ trafficking in India, as well as the science that allows humans to push past their perceived limitations, achieve incredible feats, and endure extreme conditions. While directing a seven-day Buddhist meditation retreat in India, that included contemplating what it means to die, one of Carney's students, Emily O'Connor, ended up committing suicide on the last night of the program. In her journal, she wrote "I am a Bodhisattva," and she thought all she had to do was leave her body to become an enlightened being. Read the full recap here.

In the latter half of Tuesday's show, author, comic book writer, playwright, and writing teacher/lecturer, Jonathan Maberry discussed the movie that started the zombie craze, zombie subculture, folklore, monsters, Wolfman and more. When George Romero created his influential 1968 film "Night of the Living Dead" he had initially wanted to make "I am Legend," Richard Matheson's vampire apocalypse story, but the rights weren't available. Thus, he riffed on some of Matheson's ideas and changed the vampires into flesh eating ghouls, Maberry revealed. Romero recently collaborated with Maberry on a new anthology book, featuring stories that are set within a 48-hour period of when the original Night of the Living Dead took place, centered around a zombie outbreak at a farmhouse. Protecting The U.S. Power Grid
David Adair is an internationally recognized expert in space technology spinoff applications for industry and commercial use. On Thursday's show , he discussed the Shield Act, legislation stuck in congressional sub-committee which would harden the U.S. electric grid from attack and damage from solar flares. Adair said that a solar coronal mass ejection event like one that narrowly missed the Earth on July 23rd of 2012 would kill 90-93% of the US population within a year, because of the loss of power and infrastructure that depends on it. How UFOs Became a 'Hidden Science'
During the first half on Sunday, legendary researcher Jacques Vallee spoke about the new release of his diaries, written over 50 years and chronicling his explorations into UFO study, the early development of silicon valley, and the often brilliant people he has known and worked with. Vallee championed the idea of talking directly to witnesses, whom he called "my heroes," and pointed out that news reporters and UFO researchers often give a distorted picture of what is actually recalled and experienced by the witness. Vallee examined cattle mutilation cases in the 1970s as well as in later years, and still has no answer to the mystery, although he did state that some of them were apparently perpetrated in a way that would "send a message to the farmers and ranchers that this should not be talked about." Pack Animal Abuse
Susan Ash joined Sunday's program in the second half. She is the founder of SAVE: Stop Animal Violence . For 14 years she heard stories from people about the abuse of pack animals owned and used by the Navajo tribe in a popular area of the Grand Canyon known as the Havasupai. The horses, donkeys, and mules are used to carry food and supplies for tourists along the nine-mile trail to the bottom of the canyon, as well as on the return trip. The stories she heard so horrified her that at the beginning of 2016, she decided that she was going to do something about it, and began making calls trying to get some help and to educate herself about the issue. Animals are beaten, starved, denied water, and tied so tightly that whole pack trains occasionally fall into the canyon, often killing many. See the full recap here.

The Colonization of Space by Humans:
In the first half of Monday's show, Astronomy Professor Chris Impey discussed the types of life that may exist beyond Earth, and how we may find it, as well as issues in cosmology, and space exploration. In a recent interview, he suggested that extraterrestrial life will likely be detected within 10 to 15 years, though it will probably be microbial rather than intelligent in origin. Among the most promising sites for life, Impey named the Trappist-1 system, which is thought to have five inhabitable planets, and within our own solar system-- Jupiter's moon Europa, and Saturn's moon Titan, which both have liquid oceans. If Titan's cold ethane-methane oceans contain life, they would be of a novel biochemical composition, not found on Earth, he added. Read the full recap.

Professor Rosalyn Berne is an expert in the social and ethical implications of newly developed and emerging technologies. She has also become known for her work with animal-human communication, particularly with horses. In Monday's second half, she recalled how about seven years ago, she was riding a horse on a trail in Costa Rica, and fell off and landed in a river. "I got up and something had changed. I hopped up on that horse, wet from head to toe, and I heard that horse talking," she disclosed. The horse communicated to her in a kind of telepathy, expressing surprise that she had fallen off, and worry that he was going to be in trouble. He also asked Berne to relay to his owner that he didn't need any more training, just occasional breaks from the trail rides. This shocked the owner who revealed that they had just discussed in the previous week the possibility of retraining the horse. More here.

Researchers at the Arecibo Observatory have detected puzzling signals coming from a relatively nearby star and they're not quite sure what's causing them. Since the signals only seem to be coming from that particular star, astronomers have ruled out the possibility that the pulses were the result of some kind of technical error from the telescope that detected them. Astrology of the Eclipse:
During the first half of Tuesday's show , astrologer Mark Lerner discussed the astrology of the full solar eclipse across North America and the United States on August 21st, and what it might portend for individuals and the nation. The history of solar and lunar eclipses dates back eons, and the events were often associated with fear, and dark portents or omens. One reason for this, he noted, is that some people went blind as they didn't understand that you can't stare directly into the sun during an eclipse. Lerner expressed concern about people traveling to specific spots to view the eclipse in the US, and how these locations could be inundated with traffic jams and overwhelmed by the crowds, especially since Mercury will be going retrograde at that time. In the first half of Wednesday's show , former Police Chaplain Russ Dizdar discussed cases of satanic ritual abuse, as well as demons and possession. A variety of Satanism is being practiced in the United States, including a group that recently unveiled a large bronze statue of Baphomet in Detroit, which he associates more with a political agenda than a religious one. Regarding the criminal side of ritual abuse, Dizdar said that many of these events correspond with Satanic holidays (July 27th, for instance is known as the 'Grand Climax'). These rituals, he said, can involve infliction of human pain, bloodletting, and animal sacrifice with the goal of raising the energy, and creating a demonic frenzy. Satanic abuse can be connected with secret government projects like MK-Ultra, he indicated. Read the full recap.
