This week's article is written and approved. I can send it on to the papers and get on to other things. Usually I have all of my December articles written by the end of November so I have the entire month of December to work on Christmas/Christmas projects. But my supervisor of 24 years has retired. I am breaking in the new CEO, LOL! And I'm doing the articles one week at a time as early in the week as I can. Don't have the tree up yet. Sadie is more or less my hold-up. I just know she will not leave it alone. She chewed a hole in my recliner and every time she gets on it she pulls the stuffing out. She is now in the crate. I caught her in the act of tearing a hole into Pa's chair. Sue, you warned me about the Leo. I just never dreamed that astrology applies to dogs, too. She understands "Good girl!" because it's associated with "treat," which she has a good handle on that, too. She understands "Out" or "O-U-T." She's not doing so well with "No." The Man lets her get away with things because he doesn't want to deal with her. I don't know how to make this work if he isn't backing me up with the discipline. Ashley just told me he asked her if she wants a . I didn't know he was trying to find Sadie a new home. She is a handful. But with the right training, she will be a wonderful companion when we get past the puppy stage. I do want her to be besties with Ashley and Ayden, though, because when something happens to the both of us, Sadie will go to live with Ashley and Ayden. Her life expectancy is 12-15 years. That would put me at 82-85 and Fred, 86-89. I've thought about putting up our Christmas tree on the porch. LOL! I wonder what he would say if I put the tree up on his pool table. LOL! I really prefer the tree to be in the living room. I will figure it out. It is gloomy here, but I don't think it's raining. It wasn't when I came to my desk. And it won't be long before I have to go pick up the grandson from school. Have a great evening, everyone!

to teach NO! you say it with force, and pull her away from whatever, then you go sit immediately where she is used to getting loved on, maybe your chair, and when you said NO and then go to chair, she will follow for loving, you...IGNORe her.. she will whimper and try to nose your hand for pets, then you comly say NO you were a bad girl....always associate NO with BaD..... Yes with good.... only sit for 3 to 5 minutes then get up go into another room, do ANYTHING.. if she coming in you praise her.. Sit, girl, praise her....then love on her..... a smart will only need this behavior technique once or twice, the key is for the loving AFTER the NO and ignoring.... dogs want to please.... and they are smart! good luck also have you thought afout maybe a 4 ft tree up on a table just for this yr, where she can;t jump?

Last year I bought a white 4-foot tree for Fred to put all of his Cleveland Browns ornaments. The kids have been generous in providing those. We will be putting that one up on a table. And I have thought of doing the same with our regular tree. We have a Victorian house so the ceilings are high. I think it would fit there. Sadie is very smart. Border collies are. She does catch on quick. ;-) We will get through this. I can say definitely that Sadie is not replacing Charlie. She is her own ... urm ... person/ .

I saw that you got snow up there in Ohio. Thankfully nothing like that here. And unbelievably, my celery and parsley are still growing despite having below freezing temps a few times. I've got truck shades surrounding my beautiful geraniums on the porch and I cover it with a small blanket at night and they are still blooming!
Yep, border collies are smart....and very active dogs, especially as puppies! I miss our Nova so much. I always made sure she had chew toys, an old sock tied in a knot, etc., but she did manage to chew a corner of the bottom of the sofa once when she was a pup. Needless to say, she was scolded! Here's a possible solution to the tree problem.

ROFLMBO! Plant Lady.
It's funny, I have noticed some of my things poking their little green heads up out of the ground close to the privacy fence. And the rhubarb.

GG I bet those plants will "retire" when the cold part of winter finally hits. It won't be long, I'm sure. We usually get about two or three weeks of that before our temperatures go back to mild. I'm getting ready to go out and harvest some fresh parsley before we get .
I'm back to getting physical therapy, this time for trapezius muscle pain where it attaches to the spine on my left side, weakness and damage from the surgery in 2021. Hard to even wash my hair and sleep. Can't seem to get one thing better before another problem pops up!
SAR, I wouldn't laugh about you using bungie cords for your trees! I wish I had thought of that years ago to keep cats....and Ryan...from pulling the tree down.

PL... yes mine are tied! and I have roses ready to bloom, go figure today was 60! now the is here and the temps will drop and snow for Sunday! .. no wonder people are sick.... guess I will have a very SMALL informal gathering on the 22nd... then it will just be me and the cats! PL get as many herbs as you can harvest you can chop them and freeze them in a bit of water in ice cube trays then put them in a baggy in the freezer. waving to everyone... and all the lurkers!

Roses? In December? In your part of the country? Wow!
SAR, I just don't have room in my little refrigerator freezer to add bags of herb cubes to it so I dehydrate my herbs in the oven on very low heat. This year I've done basil, dill, parsley, celery leaves, sage, peppermint, etc. I grew cilantro for the first time, but I absolutely HATED the smell of it so didn't harvest any.
Hope ya'll are having a good weekend!

it was cold and damp today, the shed kitties had to go out, but they were sure ready to go in the shed in an hr... I got tired of fighting them when I go out so I let them run while I clean the litter pans and water and food, then come in for their pate and go back out ... but it is cold for me to keep running back and forth.
I've been going from working on this forum to cleaning and finishing up decorations... next week will start of the food and craft gifts.
hope you all are staying warm.
