woke to about an inch of snow, with ice pellets under that.... had to break down and turn on my furnace,,,, but it was toasty in the bed room. as I was sitting here doing the posts, I saw something out of the corner of my eye, a huge 8 point buck (a young guy) just ran past the sunroom window! it breaks my the old crusty neighbor lets someone bait the back of the woods and the deer go...:(

Brrr....SAR. It got cold here but at least we didn't have ice and snow. It's warming back up after today so highs will be in more in the 50's and maybe 60's.
I think it's rutting season so the bucks will be more active and visible for awhile. This time of the year we have to be very careful not to hit them on the roads. Since I moved to this community in 1996 I have hit (and killed :( ) two deer.
Went to the chiro this morning and he added e-stim and moist heat to the treatment for my lower back. I did get some relief from that. He said it could be related to the other issues I'm currently dealing with.
Hope it got warm enough today to melt off your snow and ice, SAR!

I I never hit a deer, I know Dan did 2 times living here... it is 40 but a wet, chilly 40 with winds.... I'm on cat watch, I think Max is getting ready to cross the bridge, I he just drifts off in his favorite box... "sigh"...... the hard part of loving them... in the mean time I might have a surprise, but I will wait and let her announce it.... lol (clue) an old, long ago member....:)

I have seen a number of deer along Route 11. I am very careful when I drive the back roads to Mary Catherine's farm, which also is in the Route 11 area. The deer love those cornfields.
We had about an inch of snow. I took the pup outside about 6:30 a.m. She was afraid of it. Didn't want to put her feet in that white stuff. But when I walked across the yard she followed me. She is so funny.
My daughter, Ashley, has a Siberian Husky, 14 years old. We thought we were going to lose him yesterday. He didn't move much. She talked to the vet. They aren't giving up on him yet. And this morning he is walking on his own. She hopes to keep him going until spring ... longer if she can. He is the last of the dogs everyone in the family got around the same time.
The sun is shining. It's the weekend. Life is good today.

Looks like we were posting about the same time, SAR. Glad you enjoyed the bonfire. You really did sleep in! Hope you have a good time tonight!
Hope Ashley's husky makes it til spring, GG. If he's like many of the huskies I've seen, he's a real character and no doubt will be sadly missed.
Things are fairly quiet here and it's 65 degrees. Feeling a little better today so been working on a few little projects this morning. I also went outside and cut down the dead tomato, pepper, marigold, and basil plants but that's as far as I got with cleanup before my pain started. There was a honeybee looking desperately for blossoms and I felt bad that the freeze had killed all the flowering plants. Amazingly, the freeze didn't kill the celery or parsley, though! Nice weather a few more days will keep them growing.
Hope ya'll are having a good weekend!

Oh Lord, just seeing this... prayers going out!
I buried Max today, so bitter sweet, he was so obnoxious, always butting into everything, always the adventurer, and always singing the song of his people.... he'd never stop talking to you, once he saw you where coming to let them out to play in the yard,... he'd stay with me, always expecting the first combing, the first treat, and first to be fed.. yep, going to miss him... but he is now with the rest of his full litter..

He looked a lot like Ryan's cat Pepper. And she was a real character also. I know you will miss him.

A bit of weirdness here today as well. Cashier had trouble with computerized register at Walmart, several people in line said that they refuse to use the self checkout, and a strange woman followed me to my car so she could get my motorized cart.
Then had lunch with Robert as he was there getting orientation for a UPS job. Then when I got home, housing vehicles were blocking my spot so I had to painfully carry groceries from across the parking lot. They did move so I could pull in and carry in the rest of them. They were digging up the front yard in front of the adjoining duplex apt. and told me there was a bad water leak there. The mud was getting piled high. I don't envy them having to do that!
Hope the rest of you are having a better day than SAR and me!
