Hope those daffodils came up, SAR! They are certainly blooming here and it's nice to see all the yellow forsythia bushes as well.
Had lunch Friday with an old online friend since he was working in the area. Nice to catch up. Randy was here Sunday for a visit and to work on my new (refurbished) cell phone. Then today I had lunch with a lady I met online here (she lost a son also) and we had a nice conversation. She made me a pretty little Easter wreath. So sweet! And finally, a few restaurants opening up!
Happy Spring to everyone!

Hi, PL! It is good when friends can sit down together and visit. Getting out is good for the soul!
I am enjoying some independence by not having to look after the grandson. His mom is getting some one-on-one time with him and that's a wonderful thing. I miss being with him so much, but I like that I am getting some things done at home that have been neglected for too long.
It seems like the daffodils, jonquils, crocus have just come out of nowhere -- overnight! You're right about seeing color in the world around us. Our rhubarb is coming up, too. We weren't sure it was going to make it. I want to move the blueberry bushes. The blackberries and elderberry have taken over that part of the yard and the blueberries don't get enough sunlight. Last year for Mother's Day or my birthday, don't remember which, one of my daughters got me two apple trees. She'd heard me say I wanted apple trees. They are beginning to bud. I'm sure it will take a couple of years to bear fruit, but I am tickled to see those little buds. The rose bushes are bringing new life, too. I just love the burst of life in the spring.
I have seen where some 27 states have had an uptick in Covid. I'm not sure about the vaccines. I won't get the shots until I know they will be effective. And I'm not sure we've been told the truth about any of the whole deal. Probably won't for 50-100 years when it won't really matter that the truth comes out.
We are under a wind watch in our area. Damaging winds are expected from this evening into tomorrow. Batten down the hatches!!! Take care, all.

I was wondering if you got the driveway finished, SAR. We are looking at over the weekend. I hope what has been done works and you can finish the driveway. It will be great when you don't have to worry about that drainage problem anymore.
Today we expect but the thermometer ... 70 degrees!!! Still don't have the posts in the ground for my sunshade sails. A section of the picket fence came down when the posts rotted off at the ground. Fred said it's supposed to get fixed today but if it rains, I don't see that happening. :(
Stay safe, everyone. Well, as safe as you can without kicking into anxiety mode. Sometimes we just have to "be."

Posts in the ground and picket fence back in place. No posts for the sun sail shades, however. Two 2x4s 8-feet long cost $22 at Carter Lumber. I cannot imagine how much 6x6 posts are going to cost. I think I want a pergola built and stretch one of the shades over it. We are anticipating overnight, thunderstorms between 2 and 4 a.m. Rainy day tomorrow.
I made chili for supper. The man said it was pretty good. :))
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Severe thunderstorms headed towards us right now. So far we've missed the really bad stuff that the south got, but not sure what to expect this evening. Hearing thunder so probably won't be on here long.
GG, I'm with you. I don't think we've been told the truth either. I'm jealous about the fruit trees and bushes you have! We can't have much of anything here. :(
It's awful how much building supplies, gasoline, etc. have gone up in price but I think we do know the reason why....and it's likely to get much worse. I really fear for this country.
SAR, I sure hope the gravel helps! Mmmm....broccoli. I could eat it every day! Wish I had a good place to grow my own!
Have a good weekend!

Oooh, SAR....hadn't heard about cooking cauliflower like that. I might have to try it! Can you explain in a little more detail? I'm eating low carb so always looking for good recipes I can use for things I like. It feels good to have lost 10 pounds but I have to eat carefully due to only having one kidney and being prone to stones.
We didn't get much storming here last night, thankfully. Missed the worst of it yet again.
Still didn't get my stimulus check. Did any of you? I was hoping to buy myself an adjustable bed so I won't have to keep sleeping in the recliner.
Wondering what happened to our IC friends that haven't been here in such a long time. I hope they are doing well.

PL congrats on losing the 10 lbs! Now that Rick is not here ALL the time I am losing weight have not weighed in just going by looks and clothes fitting! for Broccili I clean and dry it then drizzle with Olive Oil and roast under the broil in my counter top toaster over,.... they come out sweet and crunchy..... the Cauliflower I wash dry and drizzle Olive Oil and sprinkle some garlic powder, some Italian seasonings and just a tiny bit of water in the crock pot .. on high ready in just a few hrs . we got winds howluing out there right now.... and just a bit of not enough to test the culverts! yeah I miss the days when folks popped in daily and shared their days.... so much has happened in everyones lives.. I am so grateful for those that still pop in and share. I would love to get active members again... and start sharing info on things like before..... I have the settings on private only to keep us few safe here..... and because I have to run this place (my house) on my own and leaves little time to really have to watch out for trouble makers...... but I'd open the doors again if there were people wanting to post like before. I also really want to bring over a lot of great posts still sititing on the Taptalk board.. but I can not admin it or navagate to get to the threads I want to bring over. anyway..... if you know anyone that would want to see this board open up again, you know I can put my "all" into it again! :) oh and yes my stimulus was deposited into my SS acct.....and I have an adjustable bed .

I didn't realize that I hadn't been here for awhile. I guess the keeps me busy. He seems to want more attention since Billy died. We had great spring weather last week. I took Fred for lots of walks. We came home after a walk one day and the snow and ice had fallen off the roof and there was a mountain of snow and it was even on the bottom steps. I climbed over that and got the shovel and made snow steps up and over it. A little later 3 guys (2 family members and a neighbour) came and it shoveled it out for me. So nice of them! We've had messy weather the last couple days, wet snow, ice pellets and . Snowed some last night, raining lightly now. So ready for spring! I got potting soil and seeds and will start a couple tomato plants and a cucumber plant inside this year. I don't need anymore than that. I used to buy them already started but they come in 6's and that's too many for me. I had some trouble with the truck, fuel pump had to be replaced and that cost me over 900! I was without a vehicle for 8 days. Hopefully all the virus nonsense will ease up and go away soon so we can breathe easy! Have a great day everyone!

CSue, your weather sounds yucky! Hope it changes for the better soon. So sorry to hear about your fuel pump. :( Seems like a lot of money but then I know sometimes they are actually right in the gas tank and it's a big job to fix them. Personally, I think they are going to keep dragging out this virus stuff as long as they possibly can since there is so much money and control associated with it.
SAR, I've roasted broccoli in the oven before, sometimes with potatoes, onions and garlic, drizzled with olive oil. Yum. Haven't tried cauliflower that way but may give that a try next time I get a head or two. Do you have any tips about adjustable beds? My sister Leslie keeps talking about coming to visit me from AZ so I really need to get one in the next couple of months. She has trouble with her neck and back like I do so sometimes sleeps in a recliner also.
GG glad you mentioned chili. I have some ground beef I need to use and was trying to think of what I wanted to do with it....

so nice to see you popped in CSue ... I hate the part of spring that is cold, snow and mix but love the nice 60 degree days of blooming spring ... we are under the gun for April 1st to get snow 1-2- inches but then 60 degrees for the week end! PL, I have the original craftmatic adjustable bed... lefts head or legs together or intependently.... I did replace the mattress I called around explained what I needed and the company that helped me out is now gone. but I got a foam matress delivered in a box.. not the top of the line cause it was too firm and would not bend with the adjustments... he told me to get mid grade foam and I did and it worked perfect... then I got a cuddle ewe topper and it is great for my pain days. today is sunny bright but only 38 to 40.... brrrr! waving to all!
