I feel terrible for Italy. They are struggling. Not enough ventilators to go around. If you are over age 70 (DH will be 71 in June) they don't give you a ventilator or much else. All the hospitals are full to bursting, it sounds like. No isolation. If we lived in Italy and The Man got this virus they would do nothing for him. That kinda puts things into a perspective, doesn't it?
I just read that President Trump closed the U.S./Canada border and that it now is in all U.S. states.
I just read that China was under lockdown for eight weeks.
Ashley rented a beach house at Oak Island, NC for the first week of June. Who knows if we will be able to go. I hope she will be refunded her money. It was pretty costly and this is not her fault. I feel like we won't be going to NC in June.
One of my daughters has to have surgery on May 27. It is pre-cancer they think, not elective. Will they postpone surgery? I don't know.
I am calm. No panic. Just a lot of concerns. I have a lot of friends who are in their 80s. I am concerned for them.
I was up at 3:20 a.m. This is the 11th anniversary of my father's passing. I woke up at almost exactly the same minute I got the phone call from the hospital and a nurse said that he had taken a turn for the worse. He was already gone. I thought it odd that I would wake up like that and not be able to go back to sleep. So I did what any working woman would do, I wrote an article for my FRC client. By then it was too late for a nap so I went to Ashley's to watch The Boy. I am home now. The Man is with The Boy and I am home to take a nap. The fire alarm just went off and the dogs are singing with it. They do this every single time a siren sounds: fire, ambulance, police car. We live on U.S. Route 30. LOL. There are a lot of sirens past the house. :D
Take care. I hope Billy can steer clear of the virus, at least until they come up with a vaccine that will protect him.

Oh dear, CSue, I'm glad Billy is okay! That must have been scary.
So much going on with this epidemic. I worry about Randy being out in public so much with his job as a videographer for our local ABC station. I'm kind of glad Robert's job is shut down for now because he comes in contact with hundreds of people weekly.
SAR, sorry about your broken toe. I hope it heals faster than mine. I jammed it last year and it still hurts sometimes. My fractured finger is getting better but still sore and slightly swollen after all these months. The ortho doc said it would take a long time to heal and he wasn't kidding.
Stay safe and well, everyone!

They have put my province under a state of emergency. Restaurants can only be open for orders and delivery. Fast fast places can only operate through their drive throughs. Only businesses that have essential services can stay open. Crazy times! Stay safe everyone!

CSue, that's what they are doing here too. I hope this whole situation is over fairly quickly.
Randy got his credentials Friday since he is in the media but he's working remotely as much as possible. I'm only going out once or twice a week for essentials, it's not difficult for me since I mostly stay at home anyway but I'm sure it's difficult for a lot of people. I just can't wait for the weather to get better so I can go outside and start getting my containers ready for planting! I'm getting cabin fever!

Of the 181 hospitalizations for COVID-19, 116 are health care workers. What does that say about this war we are engaged in?
Ashley saw someone she went to school with. The woman is a nurse in the ER. Right now it is quiet there. She appreciated having today off and being able to rest. But they are anticipating the surge. Four in Columbiana County are reported positive for the virus but she said it is much more than four. They just haven't been reported yet, apparently. So, there you have it from Columbiana County. Truck traffic still flows past our house. Other traffic is lighter, but there is some. Downtown looks as empty in the daytime as it normally does at night. There you have it from the village. I want to see warm enough weather that I can work outside in my flower beds and get onions planted in the yard and start some other things inside. Time. Maybe Friday.

Sorry to hear about your Riley passing Sue. We're doing okay here. Our main concern is the few that we have in the older generation. My Dad and MIL are having some blood pressure issues. I think it is probably due to the drastic change of lifestyle the past week and a half. They have been staying home as advised for seniors. (Since the 16th for our area) None of the Drs around here are seeing patients. My Dad's cardiologist even cancelled a "tele" appointment for next Monday. He was in the hospital about a month ago (due to bp) and had been really doing well. Now, he is home everyday and it seems his meds have to be adjusted... My sis is going to call tomorrow to speak to the cardiologist about the blood pressure issue. Thankfully, she's taken over looking out for his health while I've always had my hands full with Mom's. I'm going to venture out to the market tomorrow. From what I'm hearing it's hit or miss. I would like some cereal, eggs, almond milk and some chicken if I can get it. I'm in good shape with paper products and sterilizing stuff. Traffic here is down about 50% they say. That would be the Providence/Boston area. I can't keep track of all of the restrictions going on. We just stay home and away from people. It seems Rhode Island is in much better shape than Mass. Fortunately we are not close to Boston which is the "hot spot" in this area. Take care everyone! Sending prayers for all of the sick, healthy and mentally/emotionally stressed. I printed out these prayers last night. One is for Healing, one for Protection in Time of Pandemic, and one for Peace of Mind. They are from a Catholic organization. www.shsm.org/site/PageNavigator/CoronavirusPrayer.html

I listen to the governor's press conference every afternoon at 2 p.m. for the update. I love the doctor who is director of the Ohio Department of Health. You can tell that her and soul is in this, that she is genuine and sincere. I thought she was fighting tears when she was pleading with everyone in Ohio to stay at home and help fight the invisible enemy. I felt tears choking me a bit and had to take a deep breath. Kona, thanks for sharing prayers. God has to have his hand on this and will get us through. Blessings, hugs, and love to you all.

Just Damn... we just buried a kittie that we were NOT getting close too,,, right we both been crying but Rick manned up to do right by the little one.. it was screaming in pain, paralyzed mid back and had that dreaded Racoon fever....once yu find them screaming and paralized they go a horrible way so the most humane is to end it quick... but it is never easy.. even if you SAY you are not attached......
Smokey, a long haired maine coon with a smoke colored beard.... rest in peace little one.
now we wait, he just mated with 3 feral females and slept in the wooden box Rick made for the outside ferals. icubation is 3 weeks and soon as we see the signs we'll do what is right.

So sorry, Sue. Rick does get attached to the kitties. You are better seasoned to deal with these things. That's not saying it's easy for you, though.
