Dear Friend,
Many people ask about the Holy Spirit, which is one of the topics in my new book, Saints & Angels.
We may not be able to see the Holy Spirit, but we can see how He affects people and things, just like we can’t see the wind, but we see and feel the effects of it. A white dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit, from the story of Jesus’ baptism with John the Baptist. Other symbols are wind, fire, and water.
Jesus taught that once He went to be with His Father, He would pour out His Spirit to all those who would receive. In Luke 24:49, He told his disciples, “And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised.” In John 16:7, Jesus said that it was better that He left and sent His Spirit, because Jesus as a human could only be in one place at one time, but His Spirit could be everywhere, in believers, at all times.
In the book of Acts 1:4, Jesus tells His disciples that once He has ascended to His Father, they should wait to receive “the promise of the Father”, meaning the Holy Spirit, before they continued their ministry.
So, the disciples and others stayed in Jerusalem after Jesus ascended to His Father. They were together praying and waiting for the pouring out of the Spirit. The Bible says that many disciples and people were gathered, and on the Day of Pentecost, the Promise of the Father was poured out.
The account is described in Acts 2. It says that the disciples heard the sound of a rushing wind and saw visions of fire just above people’s heads. They were filled with the Spirit and began speaking in new languages, which made the crowds take note because they’d been visiting Jerusalem for the Day of Pentecost. When they heard these local folk speaking their languages, they were astounded and came to believe that Jesus was indeed the Messiah.

Doreen
Therapy What does the Holy Spirit do?
The Word of God has a lot to say about the work of the Holy Spirit. Here, we will look at some of the ways the third Person of the Trinity works today.
He teaches (John 14:26)
He makes us holy (1 Peter 1:2)
He gives insight or revelation when it comes to God’s Word (Acts 1:16)
He helps us glorify the Lord (John 16:14)
He helps believers walk in the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)
He convicts the world of corruption (John 16:8)
He intercedes or prays for us (Romans 8:26)
He gives gifts to believers for the strengthening of the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:18, 27-28)
He guides us into truth (John 16:13, John 14:16-17)
He fills and dwells in believers. (John 14:17)
He works in our hearts (2 Corinthians 1:22)
He empowers and strengthens us (Ephesians 3:16)
He gives us power to witness and tell others about God’s plan of salvation (Acts 1:8)
As you can see, the third part of the Holy Trinity, Holy Spirit, exists to benefit each believer. If you’ve not received the gift of the Holy Spirit’s Presence in your life, turn to God and ask to receive his indwelling presence (Luke 11:13).
Begin and cultivate a relationship with Holy Spirit, trusting that He is with you all the time. Walk around your house, asking Holy Spirit what to release and what to keep (especially if you’re worried about any items in your home from ungodly sources). Holy Spirit desires to empower you, guide you, give you peace, insight, and gifts. He will always tell you the truth when you ask him a question. He loves you so much!
