*-- 5 Tips for Long and Full Lashes --*
We know the drill. Long lashes really finish off a look, and mascara is one of the staples no makeup bag should be without. But, as evidenced by the latest onslaught of lash growth treatments, it's clear that females are always on the lookout for new and better ways to get longer, lusher lashes. We've got some easy tips that will help you get enviable fringe.
Learn more about RevenueStripe...
1. Maximize Your Curl: Curling your lashes opens up the eye. If your eyes are on the smaller side, curled lashes will instantly make them appear larger. The best way to curl your lashes is to press in sections-at the root of the lash, at the middle, and at the tip. You don't need to clamp down with the curler, just squeeze lightly.
2. Coat Evenly: Place the brush at the base of your lashes, jiggle it slightly, and pull it through in a slow zigzag motion. This will provide an even coat without weighing them down.
3. Prevent Clumps: For gorgeous, clump-free lashes, apply two coats of your favorite mascara, then comb through with a fine-tooth lash comb. The tool costs less than a dollar at most beauty supply stores and will separate your lashes.

4. Trick Them To Appear Fuller: If you have sparse lashes, draw tiny dots between each eyelash with a black pencil. This creates a dark base, making lashes appear thicker - without mascara.
5. Don't Forget Your Lower Lashes: Applying mascara to the lower lashes really completes the overall look, but many of us don't know how to do it properly. To apply, just lightly tap the mascara wand against your lashes to give them just a hint of color and definition. Use a waterproof formula for better staying power.

Dear Friends, My bathtub is my place of meditation. I surround myself with warm water and open my mind and to listen. Robert calls them God Breezes. When they come in the middle of the night, we refer to them as the Midnight Editor and when I get them in the tub; they are bathtub epiphanies. This morning the subject was love! Robert and I have spent the last hour and a half talking about love! Not our love but the love that is in us all. As FlyBabies all we have ever wanted is to be loved. I can remember a time when all I wanted was to just feel loved. It didn't matter if I was really loved or not just as long as I felt like I was loved. I guess that is just affection. Any way love is not something we can make happen. I don't care how much you try to make someone love you it is never going to happen. You cannot earn love. Respect maybe, but not love. It is either there or it isn't. This is why I have told you for years that you have to get the house in order for you. You are never going to get your home clean enough to make someone love you more or at all. Even as the house gets cleaner this person is never going to love you if they don't love you with a dirty house. Do you understand this? The house is not the problem with the lack of love. If the love is there all things are possible even a small spark of love is enough. You cannot buy love with gifts either. If you are not loved for you then no gift is ever going to satisfy the need you have to be loved by this person or family member. Do you remember the first time you walked into your kitchen after you shined your sink? If you have not shined that sink yet then go do it now. You feasted your eyes upon a reflection that made you smile. You didn't know why it made you smile but that feeling emanated from the very core of your being. That feeling was love! I know you don't believe me. When that sink greeted you and you smiled, you felt something that changed you forever. I know it seems so simple and maybe a bit corny but that sink is a reflection of you. When you take care of the sink; just look what that care does for the way you feel each and every day! This is the beginning of you accepting the love that has been hidden inside of you forever. For years we have pushed that love down deep and had forgotten about it because we were too busy trying to work hard enough to earn that love from others. It is time we uncovered that eternal love and cultivated it so that love can be shared with the world. Now I am in great big purple puddles. Think about all the songs that have been sung over the years. As a little child in Sunday school we sang the song about hiding our little light under a bushel. Then we would yell NO! I am going to let it shine! That little light is your love and your connection to God and the world. That love has always been there, we have just kept it hidden; especially from ourselves. Some of us have even been told it was wrong to love ourselves. Well to this I say you cannot love anyone else till you love yourself. Love your neighbor as yourself means you have to love yourself to be able to reflect that love to others. Did you know that when you are loving yourself that you attack love back to you. You become a love magnet. Not only are you reflecting that love to others but that love is coming back to you and the best part is that it is multiplied! And it all starts with you! Have you shined that sink yet? This is your first uncovering of that love that has been hiding underneath all the self-loathing and pain you have suffered your whole life. All we have ever wanted was to feel loved! We can do this for ourselves without having to depend on anyone else for what we need. We deserve to be happy! This little ray of hope, happiness, peace and love has always been inside of you! We all remember the Wizard of Oz and the good witch telling Dorothy that she had the power to go home; that it was always inside of her. This is how I feel about FLYing! Your love is just waiting for you to open up the doors and windows then let the sun shine from within you to light up the world! Love makes the world go round, it is the energy that keeps us moving when all is lost. Love is always with us, we just have to start with babysteps to rekindle the love that we have locked away. Start now. Go shine that sink of yours, get dressed to shoes and do something sweet for you. If you don't take care of you; who will? May the force be with you! Are you ready to FLY? FlyLady

The things that you almost don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it out! If it does not belong there then out it goes!

Dear Friends,
In our perfectionism we try to fix things for everyone. I have been a fixer all my life. Most of us are like this. It is who we are, but we have to realize that this trait is not good for us.
Here is what happens. We take on the problems of the world. They can be such tiny problems but when you take on all of them, they weigh you down and keep you from FLYing. All we can really do is effect change in ourselves. The sooner we step out of this virtual reality then the faster we are going to take flight!
Have you ever noticed that when you are carrying the burdens of everyone around you that you catch a cold? I don't quite understand it but here is what I think happens. Worry takes a lot out of us. My grandmother was a worrier. You may not think that it takes any energy to worry but it does; it robs your body of fuel. If you are in a continual worried state or even a plotting state then you are using a lot of adrenaline.
This adrenaline pumping through your veins is keeping you hyped up. This is the same powerful fuel that allows a tiny woman to pick a car up to free a child. When we use it every day it has a way of turning on our bodies. It causes our immune systems to break down and we get sick.
In our perfectionism virtual reality we think we can fix anything. The truth is that we probably can but are we really helping when we do this. Not only does it play havoc with our bodies but it keeps the other person you are trying to fix stuck in their own virtual reality. Think about this for a minute. When you give a man a fish; he will eat for a day. But when you can teach him to fish for himself; he will eat for a lifetime. This is all about learning a new skill.
We need to learn the new skill of letting go of things that we have no control over. The only control we have is over our own thoughts and actions. Just because we can fix something does not mean we have to fix it.
Our perfectionism plays havoc with your children's lives. Let me give you an example of a young woman. Her parents divorced when she was a baby. She was raised by her father and her step-mother. Her step-mother was BO and had no patience to teach her anything. This Flybaby also had the same issues we have with ADD. It was just easier for this stepmom to do it herself.
As a result this FlyBaby lacked even the simplest of skills when it comes to house cleaning. When she was old enough to get her first job; it was in a restaurant being a hostess. She was told that part of her duties were to keep the foyer swept. They handed her a broom and she did not know what to do with it. She was laughed at and ridiculed because she had no skills when it came to sweeping. She came home crying to her real mom that it was a disservice for children to not be taught these things.
Her real mom just cleans in routines and things get done. When this FlyBaby would come to visit everything was always neat and tidy and they played all the time. When she finally came to live with her mom at age 16; her main focus was helping her daughter learn study skills to assist with her learning disability. They worked so hard on getting her grades up that there was never an opportunity for a teaching moment when it came to house cleaning.
Our children are like that butterfly that struggles to get out of the cocoon. If we don't allow them to struggle and pump their life blood into their wings then they are not ever going to FLY. They will not be able to accomplish their passions. When you don't live your dreams you die. We can't do this to them any longer. We have to give them skills.
Let go of your perfectionism virtual reality of being the fix-it person. You don't have to do everything. You can be a mentor and a teacher but you can't be the rescuer. This is a hard lesson for me too.
Are you ready to FLY above your perfectionism?

Dear Friends,
Today is Anti-Procrastination Day! What have you been putting off?
How many times a day do you allow your perfectionism to paralyze you! You know exactly what I am talking about. You hear that nasty little voice in your head all the time. I don't have time right now. YOU DON'T HAVE TIME FOR WHAT? To do it RIGHT! To do it like your momma did!
We are not good judges of time! In our heads we think emptying the dishwasher will take hours when it only takes 3 minutes!
Our perfectionism/procrastination also hurts us in other ways. We keep putting off going to the doctor because we don't have time! We don't place an order for something we know will help us and then all of a sudden they are gone and we start to beat ourselves up over our procrastination again.
I live by the Do it Now Principle! When something needs to be done and if it is not done then you will feel bad; this is when I do it! Think about putting a fresh roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. We only think of it when we are in there. Guess who usually gets left with an empty roll. YOU! Your procrastination has hurt you again.
Our minds are going 90 miles an hour. We can think of more things to do in 5 minutes than we can do in a lifetime. Let's channel some of that power into action by Doing It Now. When you find yourself using this principle more often you are going to surprise yourself! This is not getting sidetracked! It is staying focused and accomplishing something so we don't have to beat ourselves up later!
18 oz water bottle image Have you been putting something off: Paying bills, doing laundry, shining your sink, ordering your water bottle (only $10.00), or Carpet Sweepa. One day we will run out and there you will be begging for one and beating yourself up because of your procrastination. You do have time; if you will just do what needs to be done and don't put it off another day! Just think, this will put an end to those nasty voices in your head!
There are many of you who are procrastinating about shining your sink! This is the habit that changed my life! Please give it a try! It won't take that long!
FlyLady
Your mission for today is to clean out your refrigerator!
This is a good time to start dinner too; try Surprise Chicken!
Clear out little bits of condiments in the bottom of jars. Add a little water and pour into your slow cooker or baking dish. Add Chicken pieces. I like thighs. Cook 4 hours in slow cooker(high) or 2 hours in oven at 350 degrees.
Add some rice or a baked potato, and a salad; you have dinner. Surprise!

Dear Friends,
Are you always at full throttle? I know that I lived this way for many years. The main reason I was always rushing was that I felt like I was behind and playing catch up. This was a vicious cycle that was perpetuated by staying up too late just so I could get one more thing done.
When you don't get enough sleep you have no energy. This lack of sleep causes you to be irritable. When your unpleasant mood reaches that level it is best to just go take a nap before you say things that you wish you had not said.
If you persist in pushing yourself then there are other things that you may need to be aware of.
Most accidents occur when you are in a hurry. Think about the last time you fell what was going on. Were you running to get the phone? Hurrying down stairs to put a load of laundry in the washing machine or were you late for work and racing to get in the car and leave?
Then what happens when you finally make it to the car; that foot gets heavy and you think you can shave a few minutes by fudging the speed limit just a little. Let me tell you, hurrying never did get you there on time when you were already late to start with. All it did was set you up for an accident and if you were lucky you got stopped by the police officer. This may have saved you from an even worse fate of hurting yourself or one of your children.
When we are rushing around our brain does not work efficiently. We can't think! Logic goes right out the window. That is why common sense is a scarce commodity when we are in trying to play catch up!
All it takes to get hold of your senses is to stop the hyper speed merry-go-round by jumping in right where we are. Do not try to play catch-up! We establish simple habits that form the foundation of a life that is peaceful.
This month's habit is getting dressed to lace up shoes as soon as you get up in the morning. One tip for making this habit easier is to pick out your clothes the night before. This one habit starts your day on a calm note. You can accomplish a whole lot more in a day when you are slow down and take one thing at a time.
We have always prided ourselves at being able to multi-task. Well this is a lie we tell ourselves so we have permission to rush. When you try to do two things at once; neither one of them get done. While your attentions are pulled in two different directions your body gets beaten up.
Slow down, you don't have to live this way. Just one little habit will start you on a journey of slow and steady. As each habit become automatic; your routines will bring this peace to your life. All it takes from you is a commitment to take babysteps!
What is your speed? You may find that a little dose of calm is better than any adrenaline or caffeine diet you have ever been on.

Dear Friends,
Let me tell you about FLYing!
Years ago, I started to practice loving myself. At first just in words only. I would meditate and instead of having a mantra(I didn't even know what that was and didn't care), I knew I needed some words to help me focus. I chose," I love myself!" As I would breathe in, I would say I love and as I would breathe out, I would say, my-self. I would say it over and over. Eventually each time I would close my eyes, those words would pop into my head.
Soon I was doing things to love myself. Getting my rest, taking bubble baths, reading books I enjoyed, spending time with friends that uplifted me and getting dressed every day and putting on makeup. By this time I was able to look into the mirror and not look away or find fault with my face. I was loving myself with word and deed.
This group is about so much more than cleaning your home. If we do nothing else, I hope we impress upon you that if you don't take care of yourself, you will have nothing left to nurture your family. You will be filling their cups with an empty pitcher. Everyone will be left unfulfilled. You have found this group, because you were searching for something, anything to help you get your home in order.
The truth is, Dorothy, you have had the power inside yourself all of this time. Your journey home is almost complete. Only a few more steps in your Ruby slippers(routines and shoes) and you will find the peace you have been searching for your whole life. I know this sounds to simple to be true, but I promise that if you will take care of yourself first the house will come together like magic before your very eyes.
If you don't believe me, then try to prove me wrong. Put down those excuses that have led you down the wrong path and focus on your goal. Use this system to guide you to your special place of peace. You will find it. Come Fly with me. March's habit is to get dressed to lace up shoes. This means to get dressed as soon as you get up and fix your hair and face.
Love you all,
FlyLady
A few years ago, my friend Marilyn started taking pictures of herself to keep her accountable to herself. I grabbed all her pictures and put them to music, by Amy Lacey, "I'm a FlyBaby!" We are so proud of her! She is an inspiration to us all!
7 years of Getting dressed to shoes
Dear Marla,

Flybabies out there if you really want to change your life, Get Dressed To Shoes and watch your world open up! So happy I took the personal challenge 7 years ago and to those who remember, thanks for supporting me along the way! Life Is Great!

Dear Friends,
Let's take a close look at the gadgets and small appliances. When was the last time you cleaned out your toaster; opened up the bottom and dumped the crumbs? How dingy or dusty is your coffee maker? Do we even want to talk about the blades on the electric can openers? How about the outside of the microwave?
Wipe them down and make them shine. I am not telling you to drag out every small kitchen appliance you own and to scrub them. Just wipe down the fingerprints, dust, drips, dried food particles on the most used items. Make sure you unplug these items before you clean them!
Don't obsess, set your timer for 15 minutes and have fun!
FlyLady Rebecca
Zone #2 Mission #2 Tuesday
Dear Friends,
Let's go back to basics and get rid of the dirty dishes. Any dishes that are in the sink or on the counter or hidden in the oven, you know where you hide them, WASH them! Take the bull by the horns and just do it! Wash, them, dry them, put them away! If you have a dishwasher, fill it, run it, and empty it, if they all won't fit into the dishwasher then you have to hand wash those! No waiting for the next load! DO IT! Once you have finished taking care of the dishes, Shine that SINK!
FlyLady Rebecca
Zone #2 Mission #3 Wednesday
Dear Friends,
Let's have a Fire Drill on the flat surfaces of the kitchen!
Do you have a hotspot in there that is burning? Get out the trash bag and an empty laundry basket. Toss the trash and put the things that need to be put away in other rooms in the laundry basket. Once you have cleared the hotspots, deliver the other items to the proper rooms.
This might take a little longer than 15 minutes, if so, then work for 15 minutes, take a break for 15 and go do another 15. Let's put out those fires!
FlyLady Rebecca
Zone #2 Mission #4 Thursday
Dear Friends,
Today we are going after the big appliances!
I am not telling you to clean your ovens and tear apart your refrigerators. Just wipe off the fingerprints, the spills and the dried food that gets stuck on the stove, the dishwasher and the refrigerator. Wipe down the doors, the handles and the surfaces.
This is not a detailed cleaning mission where you need to spend hours scrubbing, just 15 minutes to surface clean your large appliances.
FlyLady Rebecca Zone #2 Mission #5 Friday
Dear Friends,
Your Mission for today is to fling your way through at least one shelf of your pantry. We all seem to have items in our pantry that we will not use, that we keep shoving to the back because one day we might use them. Donate these items to a homeless shelter, a soup kitchen or church pantry. Toss the open boxes of crackers, open bags of chips and out of date items into the trash.
Set your timer and have fun with this!

Dear Friends
Every week we get questions about when do we clean out our cars and pay our bills. We have a day for this and We Get Things Done! Friday is clean out your car day, Date Night, and Pay your bills. We don't discuss the bill paying often. I have used an Office in a Bag to help me keep my bills in one place since 1980's. In fact the bag I used back then was the prototype for our version of an Office in a Bag. Just this week we got all colors of our FlyLady Office in a Bag back in stock! Red, Blue, Black and Purple! Now you can get yours.

Dear Friends,
Why is it that we always need a starting point to begin to change our lives? You know how it is; On Monday I will start a new diet, quit smoking, start exercising or become a FLY Baby. Some of us wait till January 1st to begin a life change. If it is such a good idea then why do we need to wait for some other time to begin???
What is wrong with the Do it Now Principle? DING! I have preached for years that you are not behind and you can jump in anytime. Some days I have been known to start over in the middle of the afternoon.
Here is what I do:
Let's say for some reason I am having trouble getting my day started and it is 2:00 pm.
1. I go look at my bed and if it is not made, I make it. There are days when I have to jump up and get the phone that seems to start me off on the wrong foot. So I just pretend to be getting out of bed for the first time.
2. Then I pick out some more clothes to put on. Because what I am wearing isn't energizing me. I must have gotten dressed fast or I still have on my pajamas.
3. Then I go get into the bathtub. A good soak helps me to focus again.
4. Then I get out of tub and get dressed. As I am dressing, I swish and swipe the bathroom. (wipe down the counter, put things away and swish the toilet bowl with a Rubba Swisha)
5. I put on my lace up shoes then I get out my Control Journal and start down my list to see what I have left out. Most of the time I have forgotten to eat all day and drink my water. So I make sure I eat something and get out my water bottle.
6. At this point, I use my timer, because my home has probably gotten more than 15 minutes worth of messy and it is time to attack my hotspots.
7. I work for 15 minutes and then I rest for 15 minutes. After about an hour of this my home is back in shape and I am feeling better about me.
So do you see just how easy it is to start over with your day! You don't have to beat yourself up or go hide under the covers: All you have to do is start your Morning Routine over again. Don't look at it as if you are behind! Just jump in and get started.
Are you ready to Jump in and get started today?
FlyLady
P.S. No more excuses; Now set your timer and get out your Control Journal.

FlyLady's Carpet Sweepa Demonstration Zone 3: Mission #1 Monday
Dear Friends:
This week we are in Zone 3. This is the main bathroom and another room of your choice. Our "other" room is going to be taking 5 minutes at those stash and dash spots in your home. Maybe it is the basement, a corner in your bedroom, the guest room or garage. Just 5 minutes each day to put a dent in the stash and dash piles we have built.
Your mission for today in the bathroom is to wipe down around the base and the back of the toilet. This is an area that we all seem to forget about until we notice it on day and it seems too far gone to do anything about it! Grab a rag and some general purpose cleaner and wipe down the toilet from the bowl downward, the floor around the base and behind base. This is a quick and easy mission to do!
Your mission for the Stash and Dash space is to take a trash bag and just toss anything you can see that needs to be thrown away or recycled.

Zone 3: Mission #2 Tuesday
Dear Friends:
We are back in the bathroom and your mission for today is to clean our your bathroom trash can. Use the tub to fill the can with hot water and add some general purpose cleaner or dish soap. Let it soak and then scrub the bottom, the sides and the outside. Turn it over and let it dry in the tub and then put it back before someone needs to bathe and ends up taking a shower with the trash can! This is so simple and makes a difference.
Your mission for the Stash and Dash space is to spend 5 minutes gathering up anything that you can donate or give away that you no longer love, use or need.
FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 3: Mission #3 Wednesday
Dear Friends:
It is Anti-procrastination Day! It is time to take a look into the medicine cabinets and toss the empty bottles and boxes that are taking up space. While you are doing this also take a look at the expiration dates on the medicines that are there. If you have some that need to be gotten rid of take care of that as well. Grab a damp rag and wipe down the shelves. Don't take everything out, just lift, wipe and put back.
Your Mission for the Stash and Dash space is to spend 5 minutes putting away the things that have a home, you know where they go but you tossed the in a pile while stashing and dashing because someone was coming over. The Stash and Dash spaces are just piles of procrastination.

Zone 3: Mission #4 Thursday
Dear Friends:
The bathroom sink is calling you! Let's shine our bathroom sinks and counter tops. Scrub the sink and the faucets, wipe down with Windex (remember to be careful that you are not mixing Windex with any bleach products, make sure you rinse very well before using the Windex). Take time to wipe down your counter tops and give them a shine as well.
Your mission for your Stash and Dash space is to go back again to throw away anything that needs to be tossed or recycled. We are going back to do this again because now that we have peeled back one layer it is very possible that there is more to be tossed or another space to toss from.

Zone 3: Mission #5 Friday
Dear Friends:
We are in the last day of Zone Three! Your mission in the bathroom is to mop the floor. Now, you can do this with some hot soapy water and a rag or mop. There is no perfect way to mop. Just get the floor wet, wipe it and dry it!
Your mission for the Stash and Dash space is to do a 27 fling boogie in the space. Grab 27 things to throw away, give away or put away! Now you have seen how you can work on these stash and dash spaces a few minutes at a time every day and make a difference.

Dear Friends, Flylady Link image My goes out to you! I know how you have been put down because of your imagination, creativity, and lack of focus. We don't fit the mold our family wants us to fit. God knows how hard we have tried to be what they wanted us to be. Everybody just wants to be loved. The problem is they don't know how to love us and that is not their fault. Our imagination and creativity is our gift. That gift, most of the time gets us sidetracked and at that point we are criticized for not finishing what we started. We flit from flower to flower making the world a beautiful place like the butterflies we watch in the yard. Here is the most exciting part of our imagination and creativity; we are very intelligent. So much so that it might even scare our family. We were not "Born Organized" but we can learn how to be organized. But this organization cannot be stuffed down our throats. As children we were told to go clean our rooms. Our brains are so busy with creating that we don't know how to clean a room. Now here is the funny part. A "Born Organized" person does not know how to teach us to do this either. They don't understand themselves, how it is done because in the first place they have never allowed anything to get that messy. The other part of it is that they just do and don't think about it. I have watched "Born Organized" People and they are constantly puttering around the house doing things. They flit around with a purpose to put things back into the order they have set up. We flit because we don't know where to start and we are trying to do too many things at one time. So how do we use our imagination and creativity to help us learn how to flit with a purpose! This is a big question that I am going to answer for you in due time. First I want to help you be able to hear what I am saying. Let me start by saying, "I am not your mother demanding that you go clean your room!" Now here is the tough part. If you have heard your mother's voice when you have read my messages then we are going to work hard to remove that voice from your head. You are an adult and this is your home. I am not your mother, I am your dear friend whom you have asked to help you. I am not critical of the way you keep your home, because I am just like you. I have lived in clutter and CHAOS too and I understand how the clutter becomes a cocoon to isolate you from your imagination and creativity. We have been made to feel guilty because of our gift of imagination. Well I am here to tell you that our imagination if a powerful tool to help us out of our cocoon. If we can think it; we can do it. We can take our idea and turn it into whatever it is that we choose. We just need someone to teach us how to make this happen without the world falling apart around us. Our homes are stifling our imagination. Our little creative minds have been stuffed into this cocoon because of the guilt that has been put on our little heads. We are blessed to have an imagination. We fight hard to keep from being stuffed into that cocoon. This is why we rebel against habits and routines. They look too much like the "Born Organized" people in our lives. They are a tool that helps us to emerge from our cocoon of guilt and suffocation to find our true joy in living. Let me tell you a little story. My grandmother hated the fall when the leaves would cover the ground. All these leaves meant to her was work. For me they were fun. I loved to rake them into a pile and jump into them. I hated burning them. I disliked the smoke and soot because the fire was destroying my playground. I would sit and watch the fire and be so sad. My grandmother would fuss because I was not helping. I would try to come up with excuses to not burn them. All I would hear was that I was just lazy! That was not it at all. I guess I was an environmental scientist at because at eight years old I was trying to figure out what that black stuff was that ruined my leaves. It could not be good for my lungs or the sky. All I can say is I have never burned or raked a leaf as an adult! I love to see a path covered in leaves. It is the cycle of life; the breaking down and renewing of the old leaves to give nutrients to the soil to perpetuate life. I am tired of my babies being put down for their imagination. I want your imagination to be set free from its cocoon and FLY; to soar high without fear of being knocked down. It is my desire to teach you how to take the babysteps to flit from flower to flower making this world a better place. Without our imagination and creativity this world would be a pretty dull place to live. After wiping a few tears I am now laughing out loud. We are so blessed! We can learn to be organized but a "Born Organized" person cannot learn to be imaginative or creative! Let me tell you a little secret. Our imagination is what makes the world go round! Without us there would not be any ideas. Our limitations are that we get bored with details because we want to go on to the next thing. The reason this happens is because we hyper focus and ruin the creative process. I don't want you to do this with FlyLady. You have to take babysteps and enjoy the process. Let go of the perfectionism that has been stuffed down your throat and have some fun. The one thing your momma did say that is true is that once you get the homework done you can go out and play! Here is the cute part about that statement. We can turn this around to mean what we want it to. We no longer have to hyper focus with our nose to the grindstone to get something done. We can make it fun while we are doing it. This is why we love a timer. It tells us when to start and then when it is time to stop. We have permission to stop and go on to something else. If you will; flitting with a purpose. You will get back to what you were doing but now you are going to take your creativity to another flower. All the while using your timer to help keep you focused on the thing you are doing now. You can do anything for 15 minutes! Then you get to stop! Did you ever feel as if your head was about to explode with ideas? The ideas were coming so fast that you could not even see them in your mind's eye. We have to practice harnessing these ideas. This is why we have a hard time sleeping at night. Our minds are racing. If we can practice staying focused for just 15 minutes at a time. This will help us to slow down our minds so that we can think things through the babystep process. Everything has a beginning, a middle and an end. We want to jump right to the end. We see something totally finished but we don't know how it got there in our mind's eye. When we slow down our brains we can actually figure this out for ourselves. Even if we have to go backwards to figure it out; this is called retracing our steps. When your mind is racing this is difficult to do. We have so many pictures and words coming into our consciousness that we can't hear what we need to do first. I want you to practice something for me. Set your timer for five minutes. Sit down in a comfortable chair. Now I want you to close your eyes after you finish reading this little imaginary journey we are going to take. I want you to pretend that you are a security guard watching a TV screen. This screen is on the inside of your forehead. You are looking at a blank screen. As the pictures in your mind pop up onto that screen I want you to delete them. Just say delete. As you sit there you will find that this is difficult to do but we are not looking for perfection. We just want to slow the pictures down so you can see the details instead of a blur. Eventually you will be able to see everything you need to see. As a result of just practicing this you will find that your breathing will become slower and deeper. You may even become more relaxed too. We have never known what it is we have wanted in life because we have so many things running through our heads at once. We can focus and be very creative with what our purpose is! I love you like I love myself. I know you like I know me! I don't want you to be hurt another day! I want for you what I have found; PEACE. This peace came from finding out who I am and loving every bit of me because I am worthy and I can accomplish whatever I can think about. No one ever gave us the instruction manual to explain the tools we were born with. Let's take our tools/talents and use them to show the world that we can FLY. It all starts with finally loving yourself enough to take babysteps to release the negativity and perfectionism! We can flit from flower to flower like the beautiful butterfly! We have the butterfly power within each of us. We can spread our wings and make our corner of the world just a little bit brighter with our colorful arms to hug us! Are you ready to come out of your Cocoon and FLY? FlyLady

Dear Friends,
This week we are in Zone 3. It is the main bathroom in our home. I had not really changed to look of this room in the last 17 years since we remodeled. I started by decluttering my baskets.
Bathroom Remodel Image These baskets were worn out and ugly. I was able to eliminate one big basket and and rearrange the shelving. My everyday clothes were decluttered by half. Robert made me some simple dividers in the bins. I had the small basket and bought the bins. They were only $35 for four of them. I only used three. Then I cleared my bathroom counter. I love the fresh new feeling of my bathroom. Just a few simple changes made all the difference.
Now I am in purple puddles. This is the feeling I want you to have every single day. I want peace to open up its arms and hug you when you walk in the door. It all starts with that shiny sink. This feeling is contagious.
I know you can't see the importance of shining your sink when the rest of the house is overwhelming you! But you have to start someplace and this is where I started. Go shine your sink and practice keeping shining. When you do this, the dishwasher will get emptied because you need a place to put your dirty dishes. You can't put them in that clean and shiny sink after all. Then your counter tops get clear because the sink is beautiful. Then the stove says clean me too and before you know it your whole kitchen
is gleaming and all you really did was shine your sink. This doesn't happen all at once.
If we did it all at once we would crash and burn. You know how you used to clean your bathroom. We have all done this. Wait till we just could not stand it another day and then spend 4 hours trying to get rid of the crusted on gunk. After we had pushed ourselves past our limit; we don't ever want to clean another bathroom and guess what? We don't! Crash and burn at it worst. All because we didn't take babysteps.
One morning I did an interview with a magazine. Sondra had done a story about us for her little magazine a few years ago. She told me that she had to clean her bathroom before she called me. She asked me how long it took me to scrub my tub. I told her 30 seconds and she could not believe me.
I went on to explain our Bathroom zone and Swish and Swipe. Every day when I was letting the water drain from the tub I would take my little bathtub scrubby ball and put some of my bath gel on it and wipe down one side. The next day I would do the other side. Then the third day I did the bottom of the tub at the front then on the fourth day I did the bottom at the back. On the fifth day I did the edge of the tub where I set my bath stuff.
Thirty seconds once a month when we are in this zone and while I am already in the tub is not much to ask of yourself. You don't have to put on rubber gloves and wear a mask to clean your tub. It doesn't take harsh chemicals either. It is the same soap you put on your body that makes the ring anyway. Soap is Soap!
Soap cleans Soap! All you have to do is focus on doing just a little every day and your bathroom will never look and feel yucky! If you are not going into your bathroom several times a day; it could mean that you are not drinking enough water. That is another essay!
Each time you are in your bathroom put one thing away or throw something in the trash! While you are sitting on your throne, survey the landscape to see what you could put away after you have finished. Don't jump up right then. Oh and if you running out of toilet paper then let your "Do It Now" principle kick in! Get out another roll when you finish. Nothing says I love you like a fresh roll of toilet paper when you really need it. Who knows you may be blessing yourself by this action.
Cleaning your bathroom doesn't have to be recipe for Crash and Burn. Take the babysteps each day and your bathroom will never seem that dirty again. Practice a "Swish and Swipe" each morning and you are going to smile every time you walk in there!
This smile says you are FLYing!
