7 in every 10 fibromyalgia patients experience tension headaches or migrianes. Experts believe that treating headaches and migraines in fibro patients can significantly help to relieve fibromyalgia symptoms. Painkillers might work a few times, but it is known that prolonged usage can harm your health... linkLavender, Peppermint and Basil Oil Mix 3 drops of lavender oil in a bowl of boiling water. Soak a towel in it and put it over your head, breathe in the scent, or just massage the diluted oil onto your forehead and temples. Basil oil and peppermint oil should be used in the same fashion; you need to dilute it down to a 10% solution while applying to the forehead and temples. For intense headaches, you can use a powerful combination of all 3 oils. Cold Compress or Ice Pack The cold sensation constricts blood vessels pressing on the nerves that cause headaches and pain, which is why this remedy is quite effective in terms of providing relief. Use an ice or cold compress and apply to the forehead and/or back of your neck, at the base of the skull. Leave there for sometime and alternate between the two areas after a few minutes. Vicks Vapour rub This home remedy always works and produces amazing results when it comes to migraine! Just rub some onto your forehead and temples then lie back, relax and breathe in the vapors. Repeat on an hourly basis till you experience total relief. Strong Cup of Black, Green or Oolong not only refreshes you, but it is also good for health and a natural remedy for headaches. Black, green or oolong teas are considered the best and they are loaded with potent antioxidants too. Brew it strong and full of flavor in order to get the full effect. Regular and big or coffee drinkers might not want to try this method as too much caffeine can aggravate the pain. Massage Acupressure Points Trigger point therapy has been known to get quick results, and is used to treat other kinds of pain, such as those caused by fibromyalgia. Locate the trigger points that are linked to areas of the brain where migraine headaches originate from such as the soft and web of skin located between the base of your thumb and forefinger. Massage in a circular motion for a few minutes, switch hands and repeat.
