We are getting a break from the heat today, it's cooler with light . Looks like we will be getting the heat again next week. I just want it to be cooler out so I can get some things done outside. I want to go grocery shopping at the supermarket too but can't leave my out in the car for too long with the all the heat. I have to take him with me, I can't get out the door without him. He loves going for drives. I won't leave him the car with the a/c running, I'm afraid the car might shut off or the a/c might happen to break. All summer I've been getting some groceries at the local store, just a bit at a time so it doesn't take long and of course my is with me waiting in the car with the windows down.

Oh Lord you guys, I've had a day from hell, woke at 1.30 with severe groin cramp..... woke up later after having a horrible nightmare, decided to get up.....barefoot trotted to the bathroom, then went in to dress for the day...and low and behold, there squiggling across my floor was a snake... it was probably in the bathroom with me... that's how my day began!
I called 6 men friends.. NOT ONE was home.... I saw it go into my closet and I was not moving in case it came out... finally my girlfriend called me back, and I 'm in tears with a shaking voice, saying there is a snake in my bedroom!!! God bless my friends.... she said I'll be right there... and Brandon was in Cleveland with his own problems, but had the foresight to call his neighbor who came done..o he saw it in my closet, then he lost it, .. By the time my girlfriend got there,, I'm in tears again, can't breath, the guy is trying to calm me down... I was trying to tell him my body is doing this on its own, no matter how much logical self talk!.... granted, it is just a little one, maybe 24 inches, and it was terrified just as much as I was..... but a SNAKE..... in my SANCTUARY! my bedroom.... in the end, my girlfriend got it and dispatched it back outside, , it was not hurt in the ordeal, but I find I'm reluctant to go upstairs to bed, and the thought of sleeping downstairs is just as bad.... I won;t go into all the fleeting thoughts that are living in my head, what if there is a mama, and this is just ONE of her babies... or what if it was in my bed....or how long was it sharing space in my house... or how in the heck did it GET IN my house !
I went to the store today, I got screen door material to line ALL my registers, my drains will be covered, and I bought foams stuff to put under doors in my bedroom....my thought is it got in thru a register or pipe, the cats played with it, then decided, let's bring it up to mommy... (since I have a cat free bedroom,) but a small clearance under the doorway, I think it was in my bathroom, until I turned on the light this morning, then it slithered into the bedroom and into my closet.... at least that's the only thing I will allow myself to think... and since I shared the story about the snake in the kitchen, I thought you 'd enjoy this one.. those that know me, "get it!" and yes I am still alive tonight.... although this morning I wasn;t going to place any bets on that fact!

CSue, glad your tomatoes are doing well. I've been cutting off the tops of the cherry tomato plants because they were over 6 feet tall and still growing! I planted one regular variety late, but it hasn't set fruit yet. My cukes didn't do as well this year, but I've been able to pick a few. I'm still picking pole beans, though, and froze some of them. I've been putting the castor oil (diluted with jojaba oil) on my knees, foot, etc. after I take a shower in the morning because I don't want it staining my sheets. If you are able to put it on under your pajamas, you likely don't have that problem! SAR, it's pleasant here too, only 77 right now, but we will be getting the same heat you will after tomorrow. Our regional state fair is coming up next week and it's ALWAYS hot for that. Hope everyone's week is going smoothly.

Sar, a snake in the house is terrifying! I had one in here years ago. I was freaking out. Gabby and I had the forestry company at the time and he was at work running the lines. I called his cell phone and asked him to come home and get it out, it was in the living room. He was way back in the woods and didn't want to walk out only to have to go back and walk way back there again. He said he'd get it out when he gets the work done. So I figured that I won't be able to get the paper work done knowing that snake is in here. So I opened the front door and got the broom and chased it out. What a relief when it was gone. I have no idea how it got in.

I had a flat tire on Saturday. My daughter and granddaughter (Farrah and Piper) were here to visit. I ordered pizza and we went down to get it. A nice man at the checkout ahead of us came back in to tell me my tire was going flat. We went to gas station and put some air in it to get home and get my nephew, the mechanic, to fix it. We could hear the air coming out. My nephew found the hole fast but it was too big to fix. I have no idea what I ran over, we didn't see anything on the road. My nephew put the temporary tire on. My nephew works for a company in the next town so I called our local mechanic who has a garage and does mechanic work full time. He's getting me 4 new tires. I was going to get new ones in the spring anyway so I'll get it done and over with now.

SAR, hope you don't have any more snake episodes in the house! Same for you, CSue. Good thing you were able to shoo that one out the door.
Made it to Walmart yesterday, watered my plants and then it seemed like it was one call after another wishing me happy birthday. Had a nice birthday lunch with my boys on Sunday.
A little while ago I whacked a couple of toes on my GOOD foot against the metal leg of this computer desk while trying to move the chair. UGH! Not sure if one of the toes is fractured, but it sure is swollen and hurting. It was hard enough to walk with ONE bad foot, but now two. GRRR....
It's a really HOT week here with heat indexes over 100 degrees and we are in a drought so hoping and praying for as it starts to cool off later this week. Hope you are all keeping cool and having a good week.

Nathan my contractor has been here 2 days and coming Thurs..... then we'll concentrate on the roof repair,, then I will think about starting a new project, I have several lined up just depends what he can get to. he has also rebuilt my lawn mower so I have a spare, and got my log splitter running, I'm glad I can keep him busy with little jobs between the big jobs... and he knows I am ok with working around his schedule. we may have found one entry way the snake came in and it is closed up now! the heat is unbearable the last few days, and I have an old cat that I dug the hole 2 weeks ago, but I think this heat might take him home, I kept him in side today with the fan on him, poor old man.... CSue, I had to get new tires and new car battery, they look new, but the car garage I go to said after 12 yrs that would not be considered road safe and to just replace them, so I did. now I'm waiting for the weather to break, I got the filter and oil for the generator maintenance.... once the start dying back, I can work on that, too, today I finally re homes 2 -7 ft cork screw willows, I had in pots flanking my entrance...so things moving along.... take care in this heat.. and waving to Shirley, Kona, Debi, GG and anyone else popping in
