Can't believe it's already August! It has cooled off here, so mostly in the 80's the next several days. I'm not complaining after the heat we had! Hope the rest of you are enjoying better weather as well.

thanks for the cafe start, PL, can you tell my August has been busy! running and doing and non stop! I just got in, I've been stag for the whole month since my Bday, and running to the legion, Eacles, and keeping the grass mowed and house some what presentable! lol.... tonight there was a benifit at the Legion, and a Tom Petty tribute band tomorrow, MAYBE, Dave will drive up, but I'm not holding my breathe, I'd just as soon run free...lol!
anyway, the summer is winding down, so I will eventually be on more, and the guy has my new laptop, and putting my stuff on it, but he's in Cleveland and works, so when ever he calls. I will get my new laptop.
hope CSue checks in and Kona, and I know GG is also very busy!,. I thought about getting this forum going strong like it once was, but I think folks are just busy. I do like to stick things here, and to touch base with you guys! (((hugs)))

A little busier than usual here as well, SAR. I cleared my calendar of appointments for next week but already have a lunch date with a friend on Monday. Lunch with Randy tomorrow. Normal weather here now, in the 80's every day. Hope we don't get another one of those severe heat waves. They finally cleaned our gutters here today, first time in 2 years. Maybe the will go down through the downspouts rather than over the top of the guttering now.
Wonder if you'll find another place near Heather that might work for you, SAR. Crossing my fingers.
Sending up for the people of Maui who have lost everything in the horrible fires. Hope all IC'ers are well and having an enjoyable summer so far.

Prayers for Maui and all the victims.
I buried Tucker yesterday in between the storms. was not easy, but no one here to help.
I just go with the flow, PL, if I happen to see something down home, and I like it, I act, but so far, they sell before I even can see or make an poffer... so I guess I am to keep looking but bid my time... all things work for the best, I'd love to be down to maybe less than 5 cats when it comes time to move. I have several that I am watching as they are old, feeble and lived a good long life.
hope you all are enjoying this beautiful Sunday!

I've been in your position, SAR, waiting for the right place to come along, and usually it does at the right time so that yours will too. I know that you will miss Tucker, but I guess it was his time to go over the rainbow bridge to be with Dan.
VERY hot and humid here this week. Been trying to carry water to my outside plants with one arm as I pulled muscles in my left arm. It's always something! Trying to treat it on my own as I'm so sick of going for physical therapy. Still getting tomatoes but the cucumbers are just about done.
My sister Laura stopped by on her way back to Tucson from NC (a family wedding). We had a pleasant visit and she insisted on taking the boys and me out to dinner Sunday for our summer birthdays. Hadn't seen her since about 2012.
Hope everyone is well and having a good August.

Time is sure flying by! I hadn't realized that it had been so long since I checked in here.
We are having a rainy day here. It has cooled down some. I got Fred out for a walk 4 times this week. Not walking today though.
I had 2 cucumbers on my plant in my garden. I think that might be all. I got lots of tomatoes on my 2 deck plants. They grew better than ever this year.
I hope your sciatica nerve is getting better, Sar. My sister has been suffering from that. She had a massage done on it and it got better. She's having it done again just in case.
Happy Birthday PL! I hope you get to celebrate with the boys and Hannah!

Thanks CSue. One of my boys is working today so we will likely get together tomorrow. Hannah is back at college so not likely to see her. I was lucky. Planted three cucumber plants in a container and I've picked at least 15 cukes so far! Glad you got at least 2! Had insect trouble with my peppers but now they are better and growing little peppers. My three tomato plants are giving me a steady supply of tomatoes, but it's been a real effort to keep them watered in the severe heat.
Hoping SAR is getting pain relief and sending up prayers for those who haven't been here for awhile.

PL, I had started a cucumber plant in the house in April and it was getting really big. I'd put it out on the deck in the daytime on nice days, when it got warm enough to put in the garden I set it out. Then came days and days of and killed it! So I planted another one by seed in the garden. I didn't think it would amount to anything but I got 2 cucumbers. lol I should of dug the first one up in the garden and brought it back to the deck during all the .

SAR, I can't imagine having to deal with that flooding so many times. I don't know how you do it! Glad you got to go out and have a good time, though. You probably needed it!
CSue, it's frustrating sometimes trying to grow stuff sometimes, isn't it? I've been fairly lucky this year except for the pest problem on the peppers and kale. I did find my preying mantis pal today on the marigolds in front of my tomato plants today, so along with companion planting, it's probably been helping with the bug situation. I only had ONE tomato hornworm this year so far!
I got a birthday message from Hannah yesterday and as it turns out, she is working full time and decided to take a year off from college. I rarely hear from her anymore so had no idea. Randy unbelievably got a FREE 55 inch tv from where he works set it up for me today. It was returned merchandise and likely would have been discarded, so he took it and it's in perfect condition! He's going to get me an ONN unit to add to it (similar to Roku) and a different stand for it, hopefully next weekend. Heck of a birthday present! Robert was exhausted from work so Randy and I went to lunch afterwards and Robert wants to get together this week since he couldn't this weekend. My sister Leslie sent me a domed/stained glass looking lamp (even though I keep telling her not to send me stuff!). It's really nice but I have NO idea where I can put it!
Hope everyone had a good weekend.

wow, PL what a nice present! sure hope he can get it working for you.. and sorry about the veggies situation, for you and csue....but it is fun to eat your own home grown things! Brandon was here 4 hrs today, and we worked on cutting the trees that fell, tomorrow he has another job stump grinding, and going to slip over here to make mowing a bit easier for me.... we think we have the new 300.00 sump working but have to wait and see, it works when we fill with water, but if I'm sleeping and it is flooding, I need to know it will work! break is over, at least it is cooler this week, muggy still but cooler in the early evenings. I hear 90's next week again!... I so enjoyed Sat night danced every for 3 hrs. it was Summer of 65 and they played only songs from the legends of the 60's....I want to be their groupie! lol 70 yrs old lololol www.summerof65.com/
