GG, hope you got well stocked up for the snow event. We may get snow Monday but I highly doubt it will be anything like that.
Kona, I that your dad will be okay if he gets that shot. I won't get one as I've read too many reports of elderly people getting ill or dying after being injected even though most people seem to be okay. Like SAR, I use natural methods for staying healthy and that's what I used when I had COVID a year ago.
Good news about my friend Mary Jo! Her husband says she is getting better and acting like her old self again. She may be in rehab for quite awhile as she will have to learn to walk again.
Missed both PT appointments this week because of the ice from the sleet/freezing . Going to try to get out (to get groceries) and see if it's better tomorrow but our temps will continue to drop over the next few days so it's not going to melt completely.
You all stay safe and warm!

Glad to hear that Mary Jo is starting to get better! Hopefully she will do well through rehab.
We are not getting the shots either! I sure hope that my Dad makes out OK as well. He’s 85 and is mentally capable of making his decision knowing the risks involved. He wanted to get signed up and I got him signed up... From what we’ve learned sometimes after the second shot is when they can be hit pretty hard with flu like symptoms for a day or two. My sister and/or I will stay with him after that second shot. That’s not until the end of March. I’ll let you guys know.
Hope all is well with everyone. My prayers go out to all those going through the snow and ice storm in the South. They are not used to weather like that. I’m sure many of the homes there are not capable of staying comfortably warm and safe with without power outages in cold like that.

SAR, believe it or not we are getting about the same weather as you and GG! 6-12 inches possible on top of the ice, near 0 at night with blowing and drifting snow. I made it out yesterday to get a few groceries and filled up water jugs today, which is a good thing because some water lines and mains are freezing. It took me 20 minutes just to scrape the ice off of my windshield yesterday and it was only 7 degrees so my fingers were freezing even with gloves on. So much ice in the southern states and so many car accidents. :(
Kona, will keep your dad in my prayers. You are right about all of us in the south and central not being used to this kind of weather. Well I am, because I am originally from Chicago, but most are not. Frozen water pipes and power outages are very possible with this storm.
Prayers for all who will be affected by this weather.

When I woke up this morning it was 3 degrees outside and they said that with the wind chill factor we were at -15. Snowed all day and now the wind is blowing and drifting it. Not sure how much snow we got but at least 6-8 inches. It will be around 0 in the morning and a lot of people are having trouble with frozen water pipes. The water lines to my washing machine are apparently frozen so I can't do laundry.
SAR we are going to get that next round of snow on Wed./Thurs. before it heads your way. They are saying at least another 6 inches. The only consolation is that it is supposed to warm up to the 40's by Sunday. I feel so badly for Texas. More than 2 million people without power in very frigid conditions.

Some crazy cold weather lately! We did get a snow storm last Tuesday but not as much snow as was forecasted. We had some ice pellets with that snow.
The last few nights have gone down a lot colder than what the forecast called for. But the days aren't bad with the sun. I just wish those cold nights would be over. I'm not sure how far to set the heat down at night. I get up in the morning and the house is cold and then I wish I hadn't of turned the heat down as much as what I did. They can't seem to get the forecast right for the overnights! lol
I feel bad for Texas, so cold there and they aren't used to that.
It was nice out today. I took Fred for a walk this afternoon. We are doing good despite it being winter. We have been able to get at least a couple walks in per week lately.
Stay warm, stay safe everyone.

yes I hear that my bedroom gets to 70 and the rest of the house is 63. I keep the stat set on 63 because of the heat going upstairs. we have about 15 inches on the ground and the next 3 nights are to get to 0 or below then SUNDAY!!!! we hit freezing at 32! will feel like a heat . Rick just called has to stop to pick up something so I offered to feed him since he has been my taxi in this weather. I only leave about 1ce a month but I can;t get out of the drive even with it plowed. I dropped off my tax stuff and it is done and I have to pick it up on Tues. they say I do not even have to file, but I'd rather file and keep current cause later when I start pulling from innuity I want to have a record. it is all free so I just do it. hope to see the snow melt slowly to avoid floods in this area. take care everyone...and stay warm! oh, Csue I miss having the fireplace going cause that is such a warm heat. but with just me, it is too hard to keep up with bringing it in and firing and taking ash out. maybe next yr.

SAR, those are the kinds of things people don't see but at least it makes us feel better to do them. For some reason I can't seem to get motivated to do much today. Maybe the overcast skies.... Lots of coming tomorrow.
It's warming up here and most all of the snow is finally gone. Hope it's warming up for the rest of you! Not sure what I'm going to do about container gardening this year and it's frustrating me because of the lack of direct sun.
Hope everyone is doing well. I didn't make it to PT for two weeks because of the weather but was able to get there this week.

PL there are a lot of veggies that grow well in indirect sun I am in the shade here and had beautiful tomatoes, pole beans, peppers, celery, radishes, sweet peas, and lettuces. I know you'll come up with something.

SAR I do know about the plants that will grow in partial shade and I do grow some of those things, but the shade here is almost the complete day. In summer there is enough sun for me to grow the tomatoes on one side of the building, but not much room to grow much else that needs a lot of sun. We are not allowed to grow anything further than 2 feet away from the building. Otherwise I would have a nice little garden out in the back yard! Hate it here and wish I could move. Went out today before the started so I could sweep the stinking sweet gum balls (that drop almost every day of the year) from my sidewalk so I don't twist my ankle. This is supposed to be elderly and disabled housing but you sure wouldn't know it from all the safety hazards!
Hope things are fixed so that none of that water comes into your house anymore! Not sure what you mean by "feeding cages". No matter what, I bet you are worn out!
Hope you are all having a good weekend.

PL feeding cages are 3ft by 4ft cages with a little "upstairs" for the kitties I onbly cage them at feeding time so the old, the young then elderly or weak can all eat in peace or the bullies would gobble up everything. this wait they jump in thier caGE AND KNOW THEY CAN EAT AT THEIR pace and it makes it easier when I do have to medicate or catch one for the vet visits. I do NOT keep them caged.. I probavly should just to make my life easier... but before I was adopted I was caged up and I can not stand the thought of do that to them I do it with loving thoughts and for their welfare... not for evil reasons
it was 60 today and they all got to go out and play! they loved it! lol
