Oh. A radio station in our area has already turned the music to all holiday stuff. Personally, I like to get Thanksgiving taken care of before I start thinking about the festive month of December. Traditionally, at our house, I put everything autumn away the day after Thanksgiving and start decorating with the putting up the Christmas tree (artificial). I wanted to do a live tree this year and invite all my children and their children to the house to help pick it out at the tree farm, cut it down, and bring it back to set it up and decorate it. I guess that plan will be for next year. And I've always wanted to collect my family together and go Christmas caroling. Another plan I guess will be postponed to next year. I read a headline -- not the actual article -- that decorating early for the holidays is actually good for us. When I was growing up my dad did not allow Mom to start decorating the house until the week before Christmas! I like to spread it out through the entire month of December. And I guess I will do that this year even if The Man and I are the only ones who will see it. I can take pictures, though. And I want to get decorations in front of the house. We live on U.S. Route 30. A lot of people will see them, and maybe take that the current situation is not a permanent one. I want to share with you a reality of covid-19. My daughter requires major surgery ... coronary bypass surgery. She is 46. The doctor said she was born with this issue. One of the pre-surgery things is to have a covid test done. Hers came back positive. Surgery postponed. She must have another test tomorrow. This test is the "gold standard" for covid testing. The results take 72 hours to come back. This test goes looking for the RNA of the virus. There is less than 1 percent chance of a false positive. Contact tracing? She has been isolating herself, mostly with her sister, DD3. We have all been so careful to do the masking, the distancing, the cleaning. Beth is the head cook at our high school. She makes a fuss over all the kids, encouraging them when they are down, joking with them when they are in a happy mood. She calls them her kids! And they love her back. But she has been keeping her distance and wearing the mask. So we don't know how this could be. She has no symptoms, no fever. Nothing. We are hoping the surgery will happen Monday or Tuesday. She will be in the hospital for Thanksgiving, but we will have a lot to be thankful for if the surgery is done and goes well. This is a clear reason why masking, distancing, are acts of compassion and caring for another human being, something we are willing to do to protect another. I'm not here much. Too much going on in my life, but I think of you all when I'm on the ground running. I hope you are well and safe. I hope for blessings in abundance for you. Hugs, Cathy aka GG

I've just written my last article for FRC for 2020. In March I will have written for the agency for 21 years! I'm glad to have the rest of the month to play. :D I have three white deer wearing red velvet bows still waiting inside the front door for me to put them in the front yard. At least I have a wreath on the door. And there is a tree in the corner of the living room. There won't be a lot of presents under it so I have the Santa collection and Santa under the tree. Most of those Santas were my mom's. I still have to set up her creche. And I intend to. Ashley and I made hard tack candy a couple of weekends ago. I made pizzelles, crescent cookies. We still have to make the buckeye candy and sugar cookies. We are doing that this weekend. She and her little boy, Ayden -- who is 4 -- are going to wear Santa hats and Christmas bells to make deliveries of Christmas stockings filled with goodies on the doorsteps of the people they love on Christmas Eve. They are so excited about this. Enthusiasm. It's good -- refreshing -- to see enthusiasm! I have to say that Ashley and Ayden have been my inspiration this year. It would have been easier to just sit and do nothing, but I like this bevvy of activity so much better. I hope you all have a joyous holiday season in spite of all the chaos and troubles around us.
