Thanks, Sar! Billy had yesterday off from work for the Canada Day holiday. He has to go to his granddaughter's birthday party today. He got her a bubble machine. She'll have lots of fun with that. Happy July 4th to all my U.S. friends!! I hope the crazies don't try try to spoil it for sane, kind hearted, honest Americans! It's been so hot here through most of June and July has been hot so far as well. A thunderstorm will spring up now and then. We could get one this afternoon. We had a wild one on Thursday. Stay safe everyone and enjoy the celebrations.

It's hot and muggy here too. Only a small chance of the next few days. Fourth of July fireworks were literally everywhere, loud and the smell....UGH.
Some of my tomatoes are starting to ripen finally. People from the village have been bringing free food to our little senior complex here about every week or two. Friday I got a pound of butter, cauliflower, cottage cheese, onions, carrots, etc. The three times before that the free stuff included big bags of cut broccoli heads so I froze as much as I could. My little refrigerator freezer is full! We don't all get the same things so come of us trade things we don't want or need with each other.
I did another round of antibiotics for that infection connected with the root canal tooth that had to be pulled. Going to the dentist Thursday to see if there is anything else that can be done as I'm still having problems, including not being able to breathe through a mask, ear and sinus pain on that side, etc. I wish I had NEVER had that root canal!
Hoping you are all keeping cool and enjoying your week!

that is nice about the free food, PL and how you swap with others..sorry you are still having issues with that darn tooth.
it is 95 and no end in sight. I would like to just hide but I so worry about the animals out side and in the buildings.... I have fans but hot is hot!
waving to all and stay safe and cool!

PL, that is so nice of the people from the village bringing free food to your complex! There are a lot of good people in the world. Sar, I watched some of that from Mount Rushmore. So great to see! I hope you all get a break from the heat. We did today, it was cooler and had some heavy twice inbetween sunshine. Even heard thunder a few times during the . So I didn't have to water my tomatoes or . PL, my tomatoes just got blossoms. lol None of my cucumbers grew this year. So tomatoes is all I got. I'm doing potted tomatoes and cucumbers on my deck next year. Looking forward to that. I hope you all have a great week.

CSue, don't forget that tomatoes won't set fruit if it gets over 90 degrees F. (not sure what that is in celsius) so I hope I hope your cool down let them set fruit. You can probably still plant things that don't have a long growing time, like bush beans and I imagine that you can plant cool weather crops now also, like kale, lettuce, etc. if you like those. My lettuce didn't come up but I have some nice looking kale in a container. We're lucky here that our growing season goes all the way to October but I know yours is shorter.
You have that many snakes, SAR? Even when I lived in the country I rarely ever saw one and if I did, of course, I let them be since they are such good pest eaters. I didn't realize that you had so much shade.

I think 90F is around 30C. It's cooler here today, cloudy and supposed to . Nice break from the heat. But a couple hot days coming and then all weekend. So hopefully we get enough below 30C days for the tomatoes. I didn't know they wouldn't set fruit at high temps either. Maybe that is why some years I don't get as many tomato and cucumbers as I do in other years. Billy got another good report from his doctor. He had a telephone appointment with him while at work yesterday. He had tests done last month and they were great. He has amazed his doctor. Looks like me and Fred, the , will be inside most of the day today. We've been enjoying being outside a lot and walking around the yard and going to the garden, dead heading , etc. Fred just loves to go for a drive so we'll make a trip to the store and the mailboxes. Have a great day today and enjoy your birthday Sar!!

CSue, I don't think cucumber blossoms are affected by the heat like tomatoes. Could be some other problem.
Thinking of you on this day as I know it's a tough one for you no matter how many years go by.
Glad to hear of Billy's good test results!
SAR, hope you are taking it easy today and enjoying your birthday.
It's very hot and muggy here with heat index of 100+ so staying inside in the cool air as much as possible.
to all who stop by.

Yep, SAR, you probably DO need to rest.
It was decent yesterday morning so I worked outside a little. After Tuesday we will be getting ungodly hot and humid, unfortunately. Naturally my car seems to be low on freon again.

Hot and muggy here for the next several day. Taking my car in for an oil change and to check the air conditioning early tomorrow morning. Funny how it doesn't go out until it gets so hot outside.
Cut some of my peppermint and dried it yesterday. My kale is about ready to harvest also.
A friend's husband who was suffering from cancer for a long time passed away night before last. She's been married to him since she was 14 years old and they have been close all these years. for the whole family.
14 years ago today that Ryan was killed and still no arrests. Made a new post on my blog for him.
Hope you all are keeping cool.

PL I knew we were coming up to the date Ryan was killed. I you do get the closure any parent would want (and need). it is so hot and the ac is on at 10 pm....as it is 85 still out side and tomorrow the humidity is to really be nasty. Hang on guys, this weather (climate) and Politics seems to really be ramping up!
